Ekiti Cricket Association inaugurates new board members

The Ekiti Cricket Association under the leadership of Chairman, Mr. Akin Oyebode, has inaugurated new board members of the association.
During the inauguration held at his office in Ado Ekiti, Mr. Oyebode, who also serves as the Commissioner for Finance and Budget, highlighted the state government’s commitment to selecting dedicated and visionary members to enhance the growth of cricket in Ekiti. He expressed confidence that the new team would elevate cricket standards in the state, which would positively impact players’ overall performance.
Mr. Oyebode urged the board members to work strategically towards raising cricket standards in Ekiti. He proposed that a 2-3 year development plan be discussed in detail at the upcoming technical association meeting, focusing on structured growth for the sport.
Emphasizing the importance of grassroots engagement, he encouraged the board to promote cricket at both local and international levels, especially among primary and secondary schools across Ekiti. He also affirmed the state government’s commitment to supporting the sport, including funding for the construction of a cricket training net at Ikole Stadium.
The newly inaugurated members are Prof. Ajayi Vincent, Chief (Dr.) Adeyemi, Mr. Yinka Aborisade, Mr. Segun Falegan, Mr. Wale Fademi, Mr. Apata Tunde, Prince Folagboye Fakunle, and Mr. Kola Owoseni. Mrs. Seyi Olorunisola of the Ekiti State Sports Commission will serve as secretary.
Mr. Oyebode has shown strong support for the Ekiti State Cricket Team, assisting them in numerous national championships, including the recent National Women’s Cricket Championship in Abuja. Professor Vincent Olusesi-Ajayi has also provided consistent support to the team, led by Coach Ayan.
With a team of passionate, visionary leaders, the Ekiti State Cricket Association aims to accelerate the sport’s development, cementing Ekiti’s position as one of Nigeria’s top cricket-playing states and a hub for future cricket stars.
