The Ekiti State Government and security agencies have assured residents that schools and communities across the state remain secure amid rising security concerns in parts of the country.
The assurance was given on Monday during a strategic meeting with school administrators held in Ado-Ekiti, where stakeholders stressed the need for continued collaboration to sustain peace in the state.
Speaking at the meeting, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, retired Brig. Gen. Ebenezer Ogundana, described Ekiti as one of the safest states in the country, adding that the government was committed to strengthening existing security measures.
Ogundana further urged residents to support government efforts aimed at maintaining the peaceful atmosphere across the state, warning against the spread of false information capable of creating panic among the public.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Michael Falade, also called for stronger cooperation among school authorities, community leaders, and residents, noting that security should be seen as a collective responsibility.
Falade assured stakeholders that security agencies were implementing strategies to further safeguard lives and property, while urging school administrators to maintain close contact with security operatives and leaders within their communities.
Also speaking, the Director of the Department of State Services in Ekiti State, Mrs Nka Obi-Bisong, commended Governor Biodun Oyebanji for his proactive handling of security issues and concern for residents’ welfare.
Similarly, the Commissioner for Education, Dr Olabimpe Aderiye, alongside other education officials, urged school administrators to remain vigilant, comply with government security directives, and encourage responsible sharing of verified information within their communities.
