The African Democratic Congress on Sunday conducted its presidential primary election peacefully across the 203 wards in Ondo State, with collation of results commencing in the various Local Government Areas.

The exercise, which was part of the party’s nationwide process to elect its presidential candidate for the 2027 election, featured former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi and economist Mohammed Hayatu-Deen as aspirants.

Speaking after the exercise, the Ondo State Secretary of the ADC, Ambassador Olakunle Adeloye, said party members gathered early at designated ward collation centres across the state for the voting process.

Adeloye also explained that results from the various wards were still being collated at the time of filing the report, adding that it was too early to predict who would emerge as the party’s candidate.

According to him, the collation process across the LGAs remained orderly and transparent, with results arriving gradually from the wards.

He described the three aspirants as experienced and competent individuals capable of leading the country, stressing that the party would support whoever eventually emerges as its flag bearer.

The party secretary further noted that the election was conducted simultaneously across the 203 wards in line with the ADC’s grassroots democratic structure.

Adeloye went on to commend party members for maintaining peace throughout the exercise, insisting that the primary was credible, violence-free and reflected the party’s commitment to democratic principles and peaceful political participation.
