Ekiti workers warn Fayose against politicising letter to Governor Oyebanji

By Boye Oyeyemi –
Organised labour in Ekiti State has cautioned Isaac Fayose to refrain from making statements capable of creating friction between workers and Governor Biodun Oyebanji.
The Public Service Joint Negotiation Council (JNC) said Fayose’s comments on a letter written to the governor were misleading and unnecessary, stressing that the correspondence was never meant for public debate.
In a statement jointly signed by the JNC Chairman, Oluwafemi Ajokolo, and the Secretary, Kehinde Otitoju, the council explained that the letter was a private and official message sent to congratulate the governor on his birthday and appreciate his commitment to workers’ welfare.
The labour body warned against attempts to politicise the letter, noting that it was not intended for propaganda, media analysis or public grandstanding.
The council maintained that Ekiti workers have no reason to be ungrateful to Oyebanji, whom it described as a governor who has consistently prioritised the welfare of public servants.
It added that organised labour has openly declared its support for the governor’s second-term bid based on his performance, citing the recent payment of leave bonus arrears and the conclusion of promotion interviews as evidence.
The JNC reaffirmed that Ekiti workers remain appreciative of the governor and vowed not to allow any individual to sow discord between labour and the state government.
