El-Rufai’s allegation of tenure extension: ADC admittance of defeat at 2027 poll, by Kola Amzat
Suddenly, El Rufai has become a football object being kicked from one end of the field to another. Without a shadow of doubt, he’s allowed his exclusion from the federal cabinet to cloud his sense of reasoning, stumbling from one controversy to another, in his quest to become politically relevant.
With his rich political antecedents of being Director General, Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE), former FCT Minister, and lately, Governor of Kaduna State, his intelligence, political skills and keen mind, ordinarily shouldn’t be in doubt.
However, recent developments in the political space have cast serious doubt on these attributes.
El-Rufai’s submissions a couple of months ago during a Channels TV interview, that President Tinubu had no path way to win during the forthcoming presidential poll and might not even secure a first ballot victory, simply gave him out as a very embittered and disgruntled politician.
During the same interview session, the former Kaduna state governor opined that the 2027 presidential election could as well go into run-off, but the president won’t be on the ballot for the run-off.
Even though no one questions his fundamental rights and right of freedom to express his opinion on any national issue, nonetheless, to the politically discerning and keen minds, his stance is viewed as coming from a very naïve and uninformed politician, who has been totally disconnected from developments within the political space.
Then, the very recent outburst from the former FCT minister that the president is making spirited efforts to extend his tenure of mandatory two terms in office, and indeed, planning to transmute to a life president! He went further to label the president as a non-democrat, who has been deceiving Nigerians.
This assertion, he made when fellow passenger in the ADC capsizing boat, Atiku Abubakar visited him.
The El-Rufai frustration is a testament to the realization that ADC teams are already grappling with the fact that they’re on the way to political extinction.
The ADC stalwarts might have carried out a diligent assessment of their chances during the forthcoming 2027 presidential polls and might have discreetly concluded that they are already in political menopause.
Hence, their resolve to dispatch irreverent and uncouth El-Rufai to distract the attention of Nigerians that the president is gunning for tenure extension after 2027 polls.
What Nigerians should be conscious of, is that the immediate past Kaduna governor’s voice was a representation of the entire expired politicians that have made ADC their home.
They might have reasoned that their falsehood and blatant lie would be good enough to sway Nigerians and also, attract the populace’s sympathy.
Nigerians vividly recall that the 2023 PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar shortly after the declaration of the presidential polls result by INEC, strongly advocated that the military should take over the government when it was dawned on him that he had lost out.
That’s the character of the politicians of yesteryears that populate ADC.
It’s unfathomable how David Mark would think he has the capacity to lead a political party to victory in the present Nigeria!
The former senate president was a key figure amongst powerful and unpatriotic top military brass that forced IBB to annul the 1993 presidential election won by late Chief MKO Abiola.
It was the same David Mark that recklessly declared that mobile phones were ONLY for the rich and not for the generality of Nigerians. This declaration came from him while was Federal Minister of Communications during the military regime.
How he eventually found his way to the senate chamber and became senate president for about 8 years remained confounding till date!
It’s quite disturbing that throughout his 20 years in the Upper Chamber, he did absolutely nothing to ADVANCE the cause of democracy, other than the DOCTRINE OF NECESSITY he advocated for the ascendance of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan to become president, an assignment he executed with expectation of huge benefits.
And, how on earth would Nigerian citizenry entrust the leadership of the country unto the party that Rauf Aregbesola is Secretary General! How would it happen?
The former Osun governor simply ran the state aground during his tenure. Till date, the mind boggling debt he contracted on behalf of the state for the reasons only best known to him still hang on the neck of the state like the sword of Damocles.
He caused so much confusion amongst the Christians and Muslims adherents in the educational sector.
He introduced unusual and strange learning tools themed as Opon Imo just to loot the treasury of the state.
Thereafter, his tenure as Minister of Interior was less salutary, as he brought absolute chaos and disorderliness to that golden ministry.
Other than to announce public holidays, Aregbesola left no footprints in the ministry for the period his tenure endured.
And, what of Atiku Abubakar, the six time presidential aspirant that ADC is already touting as presidential candidate for the forthcoming presidential poll!
If Nigerians had listened carefully to ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo’s declaration that “Over his dead body that Atiku would become president of Nigeria”, we wouldn’t be having this desperation in the political space.
Handing over the presidency of this country to ADC and Atiku Abubakar would be the most tragic and monumental damage this country would have ever experienced.
Meanwhile, where is Rotimi Amaechi? He suddenly disappeared from the political space after the recent Rivers State Local Government Election, where he couldn’t even cast his vote at his ward level.
These are political rejects grandstanding across the country in a bid to cause confusion, as well as hoodwink the generality of Nigerians.
The realization of the futility of their bid in the forthcoming election was the reason for the outburst of Mallam El-Rufai.
But, Nigerian people are discerning, politically savvy and intelligent enough to discern the truth from falsehood and propaganda.
They are aware of the developmental foray of President Tinubu in infrastructures, education, medical, housing.
They acknowledge his reforms in the economy and oil sectors.
They appreciate his Tax Reforms initiatives that have the capacity to cause fiscal reforms and change the face of tax administration in the country. .
They are also conscious of his administration’s manifold social intervention schemes for market women, downtrodden Nigerians at the grassroots, as well as the artisans.
The populace are in the know of his sincere programs to empower the small and medium scale entrepreneurs.
Nigerians were oblivious of the president tremendous will and courage to rid the nation of criminality, mandating and empowering the security team to continually rout out the bandits, religious zealots, kidnappers and insurgents for destruction and annihilation, thus fortifying and strengthening the territorial integrity of our dear country.
More importantly, the country men and women deeply acknowledge the president’s stoic determination to foster unity and togetherness amongst the 300 ethnic groups in the country.
There is no iota of doubt that Nigerians, both at home and in Diaspora have got reasons to cast their loins on the president and APC during the forthcoming 2027 polls, God sparing our life.
