A 54-year-old man, Okerebe Emmanuel, has been remanded by an Akungba-Akoko Magistrate’s Court in Ondo State over the alleged theft of a generator valued at N140,000.

Emmanuel was arraigned before Magistrate K.A. Kolawole on a two-count charge bordering on stealing.

The prosecution alleged that the defendant committed the offence in August 2026 in Akungba, within the jurisdiction of the court.

Prosecutor, Inspector Boboye Olasunkanmi, told the court that Emmanuel had previously been convicted and sentenced to five years and six months’ imprisonment, with an option of a N350,000 fine.

The prosecutor said the latest charges were brought under Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap. 37, Vol. I, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.

When the charges were read to him, Emmanuel, who had no legal representation, pleaded not guilty.

Following his plea, the court ordered that he be remanded pending further proceedings.

Magistrate Kolawole subsequently adjourned the case until September 2, 2026, for further hearing.
