EXCLUSIVE: Tinubu retains Shettima as running mate for 2027 presidential election

By Raphael Jackson –
It’s official! President Bola Tinubu may have finally decided to run for second term in 2027 with Vice President Kashim Shettima, brushing aside all attempts by some politicians to prevail on him to drop Shettima.
Presidency sources told Western Post that Tinubu decided to retain Shettima despite reports that some political interests had mounted pressure on the President to replace him ahead of the election.
According to the sources, President Tinubu handed over the vice-presidential nomination forms to Shettima over the weekend as part of the preparations for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to submit its candidates for the 2027 presidential poll.
The sources added that Shettima’s completed nomination form would be submitted alongside President Tinubu’s before the deadline set by the electoral authorities.
Political parties have until July 11 to upload the nomination documents of their Presidential and National Assembly candidates for the January 2027 general election.
Neither the Presidency nor the APC had issued an official statement on the development as of the time of filing this report.
