The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has emphasized the need for faith and politics to work together for Nigeria’s development.
Speaking in Kaduna on Saturday at the Annual Ramadan Lecture organized by the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), and the Voice of Nigeria (VON), Idris highlighted the role of religious leaders in shaping the country’s political landscape.
He commended the annual lecture as a vital platform for national discourse, especially during Ramadan, a period of reflection and unity.
“As we navigate the dynamics of faith, politics, and power, we must also confront internal and external political challenges that affect our national unity,” he stated.
The event was attended by prominent figures, including Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, Minister of Livestock Development Malam Idi Mukhtar Maiha, and the Emir of Zazzau, Ambassador Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli. The minister also acknowledged the contributions of Islamic scholars Sheikh Morufu Onike Abdulazeez and Professor Ismaila Shehu.
Idris praised President Bola Tinubu’s administration for prioritizing key sectors in the N54 trillion national budget, including security, education, infrastructure, health, and agriculture.
He further described the creation of the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development as a landmark decision with significant economic benefits.
