The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved N2.1 billion for the rehabilitation and upgrade of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) in Bauchi to enhance healthcare services in the region.

Minister of Health, Ali Pate, announced the approval on Wednesday while addressing reporters after the FEC meeting presided over by President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

According to Pate, the funds will be used to procure a mobile X-ray machine and rehabilitate and equip a 64-slice CT scan at the teaching hospital.

“The second approval was for one of our largest teaching hospitals, the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital in Bauchi.

“The Federal Executive Council approved the procurement of a mobile X-ray machine and the rehabilitation and equipping of a 64-slice CT scan for the hospital, at a total cost of N2.1 billion.

“This investment will improve diagnostic services and clinical care, ensuring that Nigerians receive high-quality medical treatment. The hospital serves as a referral center not only for Bauchi State but also for the surrounding region,” Pate stated.
