The Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, has described Fedegbo Kingdom as a goldmine of heritage and the home of Aso-Oke weaving in Nigeria.
The monarch made this remark during a visit to Oba Gbolagunte Olaosebikan, the Onifedegbo of Fedegbo, accompanied by esteemed chiefs on Wednesday.
While emphasizing the cultural and economic value of Aso-Oke weaving, the Soun noted that Aso-Oke would be produced in Fedegbo for the upcoming 2025 Ogbomoso Cradle Carnival. He highlighted the move as a means of showcasing culture and transforming tradition into a tool for economic growth across Ogbomosoland.

Expressing confidence in Fedegbo’s potential, the Soun pledged to renovate the community’s weaving workspace into a modern and dignified center for craftsmanship.
“Fedegbo will become a vocational hub for Aso-Oke—a place where tradition meets innovation. I’ve challenged the weavers to pair skill with education, and I’ve pledged to renovate their workspace into a modern, dignified center for craftsmanship.
“Let’s rise to the moment. Let’s honour our culture. True progress starts from within,” he added.
