Governor Inuwa Yahaya announced on Saturday that the Federal Government has disbursed ₦60 billion to Gombe State for the establishment of a massive 184-hectare Agro-Livestock Industrial Zone.

Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony in Gombe, Governor Yahaya revealed that the administration led by President Bola Tinubu had pledged a total of ₦120 billion for the project and had already released half of the amount.

According to the governor, the industrial zone is designed to boost livestock production and processing, create jobs, and generate foreign earnings for the state and the country.

Facilities planned for the zone include an ultramodern abattoir, an international livestock market, fattening hubs, a tannery and leather factory, a grains and livestock feeds market, and an inland dry port.

“The Gombe Ultramodern Abattoir is set to transform meat processing in the state and the entire Northern region,” Yahaya said. “This automated facility will ensure hygienic, efficient, and globally compliant processing for both domestic and international markets.”

Yahaya stressed that the project will modernise the livestock sector by ending the risky and costly practice of transporting live animals over long distances.

Minister of Livestock Development, Alhaji Idi Maiha, who attended the event, reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to repositioning the livestock industry in line with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He noted that the facility is expected to process 500 bulls, 1,000 small ruminants, and 3,000 poultry birds daily when fully operational.

During the ceremony, Governor Yahaya declared his unwavering support for President Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, citing the administration’s transformative projects as justification.
