The Federal Government has announced a new partnership with Tunde Onakoya, Guinness World Record holder and founder of the “Chess in Slums Africa” initiative, to expand educational and empowerment opportunities for children and youths across the country.
President Bola Tinubu revealed the collaboration on Monday through a social media post, following a meeting with Onakoya at his residence in Ikoyi, Lagos.
Praising Onakoya’s journey from the streets of Lagos to international acclaim, President Tinubu described him as a symbol of the resilience and brilliance of Nigerian youth.
He lauded the young chess master’s dedication to uplifting underserved communities through chess, education, and mentorship.
“This partnership reflects our administration’s commitment to ensuring no child is left behind and no talent goes to waste,” the President said.
The initiative, which has already impacted hundreds of children in disadvantaged communities, is now set to expand its reach nationwide with government support.
