The Federal Government has announced plans to begin payment of the outstanding N35,000 wage award arrears owed to federal workers.
In a statement issued by the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) on Monday in Abuja, the government confirmed that the arrears, covering five months, would be settled in instalments of N35,000 per month.
The OAGF clarified that although five months’ wage awards had previously been paid in phases, the outstanding balance would now be disbursed, with the first instalment set to follow immediately after the April 2025 salary payment.
“The wage award arrears will not be paid along with the April 2025 salary; it will be paid immediately after the salary is disbursed,” the statement said.
The Federal Government also reaffirmed its commitment to fully implementing all agreements and policies relating to staff welfare and remuneration, aiming to enhance productivity and efficiency within the public sector.
