Fire guts public secondary school in Ikorodu

A fire outbreak on Sunday afternoon at about 12:30pm gutted a part of Elepe Community Secondary School, Igbogbo-Ikorodu in Lagos State.
The inferno, which burnt the state’s solar panel powered by Education ICT initiative was prevented from spreading to other parts of the school by the swift response from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service.
According to an eye witness, no life was lost in the fire outbreak.





A member of the state House of Assembly and representative of Ikorodu Constituency 2, Hon. Nurudeen Solaja, who visited the scene along with the Councillor representing Ward C5, Hon. Adekunle Anifowose, described the incident as “force majeure” out-of-human situation and effect that cannot be reasonably anticipated, assuring the community that he would see to the reconstruction of the solar panel.
The Principal of the school, Mr. Adeyemi Kolawole, appreciated all stakeholders that contributed immensely in containing the fire outbreak.
As at the time of filing this report, the cause of the fire outbreak was unknown.
