First Lady tasks Christian leaders on nation building

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, has called on Christian leaders to focus on preaching the true gospel and living exemplary lives that inspire younger generations, rather than delivering messages that lack spiritual depth.
She made the call while receiving the Global Executive Chairman of the Lausanne Movement, Michael Oh, and his delegation during a courtesy visit to her office in Abuja.

In a statement on Saturday by her spokesperson, Busola Kukoyi, Mrs. Tinubu said people of faith have a crucial role to play in supporting efforts by the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to rebuild the country and lay a solid foundation for future generations.
According to the First Lady, Christian leaders and followers must act as watchmen by living lives that reflect readiness for the return of Christ while guiding young people toward moral values.
“We as Christian leaders and followers should be watchmen, living our lives in readiness for the coming of Christ, and the church should focus on teaching younger generations virtues,” she said.

Mrs. Tinubu added that the President remains committed to strengthening Nigeria’s foundation, noting that strong institutions today would make it easier for future generations to build on them. She likened the effort to the transformation witnessed in Lagos State during President Tinubu’s tenure as governor.
She stressed that the task of rebuilding the nation would become easier with greater religious understanding and cooperation.
Speaking earlier, Dr. Oh explained that the Lausanne Movement, founded in 1974 by renowned evangelist Billy Graham, is a global evangelical initiative aimed at uniting Christians for world evangelisation.
