Flying Eagles defeat Egypt 2–1 in U-20 friendly

Nigeria’s U-20 team, the Flying Eagles, defeated Egypt’s Young Pharaohs 2–1 on Tuesday in a pre-AFCON friendly at Cairo International Stadium.

Kparobo Arierhi opened the scoring in the 10th minute after a pass from Bidemi Amole. Egypt equalized in the 65th minute through Ahmed Kaabaka, but Precious Benjamin restored Nigeria’s lead with a late penalty after Divine Oliseh was fouled.

The win comes less than 48 hours after Nigeria’s arrival in Cairo for the U-20 AFCON, which begins Sunday. The Flying Eagles face Tunisia next Thursday, then Morocco and Kenya in Group B.

Egypt, in Group A, will play South Africa on Sunday, followed by games against Sierra Leone (April 30), Zambia (May 3), and Tanzania (May 9).
