Flying Eagles reach WAFU B semi-finals despite 2-0 fall to Burkina Faso

The Flying Eagles of Nigeria suffered a 2-0 defeat to Burkina Faso on Sunday in their final Group B match at the 2026 WAFU B U-20 Championship.

The loss ended Nigeria’s perfect start but did not stop them from reaching the semi-finals after earlier wins over Ghana (4-2) and Togo (3-0).

Burkina Faso took control in the first half, with Alassana Bagayogo scoring in the 23rd minute and Mohamed Zongo adding a superb free-kick 13 minutes later to seal the win.

Nigeria improved after the break and pushed for a response, but Burkina Faso stayed solid defensively to secure the clean sheet.

Despite the setback, the Flying Eagles advance and will look to regain form as they continue their title defence.
