Obasanjo, Fayemi, Olojede lead debate on Africa’s role in changing global order

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi and publisher of the defunct Next Newspaper and Pulitzer Prize winner, Dele Olojede, were among the policymakers, activists and political leaders who participated in the Amandla Parapo 2026 conversation on Africa’s place in the new world order.
The three-day conversation was convened by the Amandla Institute under its annual 2026 Amandla Parapọ̀ programme.

The event also brought together scholars, business executives and young Africans for discussions on the theme: “Policy and Leadership at a Time of Changing Global Geopolitics”.

The conversations explored Africa’s place in the changing global order, the leadership and policy choices required to navigate emerging challenges, and the importance of intergenerational dialogue and private sector engagement in advancing the continent’s interests.

Sharing his experience at the event, former Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, wrote via his media handles:

“I was pleased to participate in these important conversations and encouraged by the depth of perspectives shared.

“The task ahead is to ensure that the ideas and recommendations emerging from the gathering contribute meaningfully to policy and decision-making at national and regional levels”.
