Former President Buhari congratulates APC, Edo governor-elect Okpebholo on victory

Former President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Senator Monday Okpebholo, the governor-elect of Edo State, on what he termed a “prized, historic electoral victory.”

In a statement signed on Sunday, Buhari expressed his optimism that both the incoming administration and the opposition would collaborate to strengthen democracy and sustain Edo State’s development trajectory.

“Congratulations to the APC and the election winner, Senator Monday Okpebholo, on the historic electoral victory. My warmest wishes for a new lease of life for Edo State and its people,” Buhari said in his message.

The former president also emphasized the need for unity, urging both winners and losers to work together for the betterment of the state and to uphold the principles of democracy.

He further commended law enforcement agencies for ensuring a peaceful election and praised electoral officials for their efforts in improving the electoral process.

Buhari concluded his statement by offering prayers for Nigeria’s continued progress under democracy, while underscoring the nation’s pivotal role as Africa’s most populous country.

The victory of Senator Okpebholo marks a significant milestone for the APC, as they secure leadership in Edo State, positioning the party to further its agenda in the region.
