Gov Abdulrazaq mourns victims of Gwajibo boat mishap

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has expressed shock and sadness over the tragic boat mishap that involved at least 200 people from the Gwajibo Mudi community in the Kaiama Local Government Area.
The incident occurred when the boat, carrying passengers from Gwajibo village in Kwara State, was headed to a neighboring community in Niger State for a Maulid Nabiyy celebration. Tragically, local authorities report that only 31 people have been rescued alive so far.
The Governor’s message of commiseration was conveyed in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, in Ilorin on Wednesday. He extended his heartfelt condolences to the Emir of Kaiama, Alhaji Mohammed Mu’azu Shehu, and the people of Gwajibo for the devastating loss.
In response to the tragedy, the Governor has directed the State Emergency Management Agency to join ongoing humanitarian efforts to assist the victims, survivors, and their families.
In addition, a high-powered delegation from the state government, led by the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi Salihu, is visiting Gwajibo today to commiserate with the affected families.
