Gov. AbdulRazaq urges IGP to probe death of Abdulqadir, commends prompt visit

Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has expressed the government’s commitment to closely monitoring the investigation into the tragic death of Mr. Jimoh Abdulqadir while in police custody, urging the public to remain calm.

In a statement issued on Monday by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, the Governor highlighted the significance of the prompt visit by Inspector General of Police, Dr. Kayode Egbetokun, to Abdulqadir’s family.

The Governor expressed confidence that the visit raised hope for a thorough and just investigation into the incident.

Governor Abdulrazaq commended the IGP and his team for traveling to Ilorin within hours of being informed about the tragedy, urging the police to ensure justice is served in the case.

“We are devastated by the death of Mr. Jimoh Abdulqadir. This is one tragedy too many for our community, and it is unacceptable,” the Governor said.

He extended his condolences to the Balogun Gambari Alhaji Abubakar Sidiq Atiku Fulani and the deceased’s immediate family, expressing optimism that the police would thoroughly investigate the matter, address citizens’ concerns, and ensure justice is done.

The Governor urged residents, especially the youth, to remain calm, law-abiding, and avoid hasty conclusions that could hinder genuine resolutions.

“I also commend the Balogun Gambari of Ilorin and the youths for their maturity in handling the issue. We pray for the soul of Mr. Jimoh Abdulqadir,” the statement concluded.
