Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Tuesday, inaugurated the Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu Library Complex at Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo. The new complex is said to be the largest university library in West Africa.
At the ceremony, Sanwo-Olu emphasized that the library symbolizes Lagos State’s commitment to education, knowledge, and innovation. He noted that the library is not just a structure but a testament to the transformative power of learning.
“This moment is deeply personal for me, not because it bears my name, but because it embodies the ideals that have shaped my journey. Education remains the bridge between potential and purpose,” the governor said.

The library complex is equipped with digital research facilities, reading lounges, innovation labs, and extensive archives. Sanwo-Olu highlighted that it will be a space where printed words meet digital possibilities and where heritage meets innovation.
According to the governor, the facility aligns with his administration’s THEMES Plus agenda, which prioritizes education and technology as drivers of development.
Sanwo-Olu acknowledged the contributions of his predecessors, including Babatunde Fashola (SAN) and Akinwunmi Ambode, to the growth of the university.
He added that his administration has invested more resources than ever before in completing the library and supporting educational projects across the state. Under his leadership, Lagos continues to build an ecosystem where learning becomes the key to prosperity.
“This library will be a space of discovery, dialogue, and dreaming where future Nobel laureates, authors, leaders, and even presidents will begin their journeys,” the governor concluded.
