Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted five women, including a pregnant woman and a nursing mother, in Erinmope-Ekiti, Moba Local Government Area of Ekiti State.
The kidnappers were said to have invaded the community on Saturday evening and taken the victims from a family residence near the Ekiti–Kwara boundary.
Narrating the incident on Tuesday, the head of the family, Muhammad Saliu Okanlawon, said the assailants stormed the house around 7 p.m., firing shots to scare residents.
Okanlawon said the victims, identified as Kehinde Mahmud, Adijat Hussein, Hawawu Suleiman, Fatima and another Fatima, are wives and children of his younger brother and son.
He explained that the male members of the household were at a mosque at the time of the attack, adding that security agencies were alerted and immediately mobilised.
According to him, the abductors later contacted the family once, demanding a ransom of ₦100 million, after which all communication ceased.
He lamented that one of the abducted women is nine months pregnant, describing the situation as traumatic and beyond the family’s financial capacity.
Confirming the incident, the Ekiti Amotekun Corps Commander, Brigadier General Olu Adewa (retd.), said details were still sketchy, while a community leader said security operatives had intensified efforts to rescue the victims.
