Havertz late goal seals Arsenal’s passage to Carabao Cup final

By Tosin Omojola –
Former Chelsea man, Kai Havertz, scored deep into added time to earn Arsenal a 1-0 win over London rivals Chelsea in Wednesday’s Carabao Cup semi-final second-leg tie.
The Gunners thus secured passage to the final of the competition via a 4-2 aggregate win, having previously won the first leg 3-2 at Stamford Bridge.
The Emirates erupted in joy after the final whistle as Arsenal faithful watched their team qualify for a competition final after a long time.
The Gunners had recorded four semi-final outings before Wednesday’s game and were unsuccessful in all four. Wednesday’s triumph over the Blues therefore ended their semi-final hoodoo.
They are now one win away from a first League Cup triumph since 1993.
Mikel Arteta’s men await the winner of the second semi-final clash between Manchester City and Newcastle to know their final opponent at Wembley.
