Ijesa South Accord campaign council assures security ahead of Osun gov election

The Ijesa South Campaign Council of the Accord Party has assured residents of Ilesa East, Ilesa West, Atakumosa East and Atakumosa West of adequate security during Saturday’s Osun State governorship election.

The council, however, urged voters not to be deterred by fear or intimidation but to participate peacefully in the election.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, the council’s chairman, Babatunde Dosu, said the Federal Government had put robust security arrangements in place to protect voters, electoral officials and election materials across the state.

Dosu said the security measures demonstrated the government’s commitment to protecting the democratic process and ensuring that residents could exercise their franchise without fear.

He also claimed that the Federal Government had approved the deployment of 10 security personnel to each polling unit as part of measures to ensure a peaceful electoral process.

Meanwhile, the council urged residents of Ijesa South Federal Constituency and other parts of the state to participate actively in the election, stressing that their votes should not be surrendered to fear or intimidation.

The council also called on voters to support Governor Ademola Adeleke, citing what it described as his developmental and infrastructural achievements across the state.

It urged residents to remain peaceful throughout the electoral process, stressing that voting was their civic right and a means of determining the state’s leadership.
