Ikorodu City FC have emerged winners of the 2025 ValueJet Pre-season Tournament, held at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne.

The Lagos-based side claimed the title after securing a point in their last match against Rivers United of Port Harcourt.

In the first game on the final day of matches, Ikorodu City were held to a 2-2 draw, a result that was good enough to earn the team the top spot with seven points.

Interestingly, three other teams — Abia Warriors, Kwara United, and Shooting Stars of Ibadan — also finished with seven points, but Ikorodu City emerged victorious with a superior goal advantage.

Shooting Stars ended the tournament on a winning note after edging Kwara United 1-0 in the last game of the annual pre-season showpiece.

In the second match of the day, hosts Remo Stars played out a goalless draw against Abia Warriors, the only side that did not lose a match in the competition.

Rivers United garnered six points, one point ahead of hosts Remo Stars, who finished bottom of the table with five points.

The pre-season tournament is organised yearly to prepare teams for the new league campaign, with the 2025/26 season expected to kick off next Friday.
