Independence day: Adeleke restates commitment to unity, progress

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has reaffirmed the state’s commitment to the core values of unity, progress, and an unwavering belief in the collective ability to shape a brighter future.
In his address marking Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day, Adeleke reflected on the nation’s journey since gaining sovereignty in 1960, acknowledging the struggles, sacrifices, and indomitable spirit that have propelled Nigeria forward.
He stated: “We must reflect upon the journey of our nation since attaining sovereignty on October 1, 1960. We remember the struggles, sacrifices, and unbreakable spirit that have brought us this far. Today, as we celebrate, we also look to the future, filled with hope, aspiration, and the determination to make Osun State a beacon of excellence within our nation.
“As we stand here on this historic occasion, I am filled with immense pride in the strides we have made as a state and as a nation.
“Our unity, resilience, and unwavering commitment to progress have carried us through challenges and propelled us toward a better tomorrow. Together, we have overcome obstacles that once seemed insurmountable, as we continue to strive for excellence in all facets of our lives.
“Osun State, with its rich cultural heritage, vibrant communities, and committed citizens, has always played a significant part in Nigeria’s progress. Our state has been a shining example of unity in diversity, where people from various backgrounds come together in harmony to build a brighter future.
“We are celebrating our collective achievements and the milestones we have reached as a nation and state. Our resolve to build a better Osun State, where every citizen has access to quality education, infrastructural development, healthcare, and economic opportunities, remains steadfast.”
He expressed pride in the remarkable strides made by Osun State under his administration, citing significant progress in infrastructure development, renovation of schools, healthcare facilities, roads, and modern flyovers, as well as initiatives like the 2024 Debate Competition.
He emphasized the importance of nurturing the intellectual growth of youth, highlighting the successful completion of the 2024 Debate Competition. According to Adeleke, this initiative aimed to encourage critical thinking, research, and unity among students.
Speaking further, the Governor highlighted his administration’s achievements, including the renovation of 332 primary health facilities, full stocking of drugs, public service reforms, timely payment of monthly salaries, palliative allowances for civil servants, youth empowerment, and fostering unity.
He urged citizens to remain committed to building a better Osun State and stressed the importance of collective hope and active participation in rebuilding Nigeria, emphasizing the need for unity, resilience, and progress.
