Inuwa hails peaceful conduct, voter turnout in Gombe council polls

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has commended the peaceful conduct of the local government council elections held across the state’s 11 local government areas, describing the exercise as free, fair and transparent.
The election, held on Saturday, recorded a large turnout of eligible voters, who cast their ballots in an orderly atmosphere, while electoral officials and security personnel discharged their duties without major incidents.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya, who voted at Yahaya Umaru Polling Unit 010 in Jekadafari Ward, located at Government Science Secondary School, Gombe, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the exercise and praised residents for their peaceful participation.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening democratic institutions, promoting credible electoral processes and deepening grassroots governance as key drivers of sustainable development in the state.
“Well, you’ve seen it yourselves. The turnout is very impressive. I have cast my vote alongside our party’s gubernatorial candidate, Dr. Jamilu Isiyaku Gwamna, and a host of other eligible voters. From what we have witnessed so far, the election is free, fair and peaceful, and I believe the outcome will be beneficial to all of us,” the governor said.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya noted that Gombe had consistently conducted peaceful local government elections over the years and expressed confidence that the current exercise would further strengthen the state’s democratic credentials.
Voting was generally peaceful and orderly across polling units, with election officials, security personnel and independent observers carrying out their responsibilities without interference. Collation of results is expected to commence immediately after the conclusion of voting.
The election is the first local government poll to be conducted since the creation of 13 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), a move by the state government aimed at accelerating development and bringing government closer to the people.
