Troops of the 32 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army have killed two suspected terrorists during a security operation along the Akunu–Auga axis of Ondo State.
The operation was carried out by personnel deployed at the Forward Operating Base in Auga after receiving reliable intelligence about the movement of armed suspects in the area.
In a statement on Monday, the brigade’s Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Major Irabor Njoka, disclosed that the soldiers swiftly responded to the information and engaged the suspects in a gun battle upon interception.

He explained that the troops’ superior combat response led to the killing of two suspects, while several others reportedly fled the scene with gunshot wounds.
The military operation was conducted in collaboration with operatives of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun, as well as local vigilante members.
Recovered items from the suspects included one AK-47 rifle, two magazines containing 61 rounds of ammunition, three mobile phones, a jackknife, a torchlight, suspected hard drugs, charms, and a cash sum of ₦39,000, among other belongings.
The Army reassured residents that sustained clearance operations and intensified patrols would continue along identified flashpoints, while urging the public to support security efforts by providing timely and credible intelligence.
