JUST IN: Tinubu, First Lady depart Abuja for eighth-day prayers in honour of late Awujale

By Kunle Sanni –
President Bola Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu have departed Abuja for Ijebu‑Ode, Ogun State, to attend the eighth‑day prayer ceremony in honour of the late Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona.
The solemn event is scheduled to hold at the Dipo Dina International Stadium.
Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State and other dignitaries are expected to join the President at the ceremony.

Oba Adetona, aged 91, passed away on July 13. His reign, which began in 1960, lasted over 65 years, making him one of Nigeria’s longest-serving traditional rulers.
He was buried the following day in Ijebu-Ode in a quiet Islamic funeral ceremony—an event that has stirred controversy, as many felt it lacked the grandeur and traditional rites befitting a monarch of his stature.
