JUST IN: Tinubu to attend Buhari’s burial slated for Tuesday in Daura

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to attend the burial of former President Muhammadu Buhari, which has been scheduled to hold on Tuesday, July 15, in Daura, Katsina State.
This follows confirmation from reliable sources that the late president’s body will arrive in Nigeria late tonight, making it impossible to meet today’s 4:00 p.m. burial window required under Islamic rites.
A high-powered Federal Government delegation led by Vice President Kashim Shettima and Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, arrived in London on Monday morning to coordinate the repatriation of the late president’s remains.
Buhari, who passed away on Sunday, July 13, in a London hospital after a prolonged illness, will be laid to rest in his hometown, Daura, in accordance with Islamic traditions.
Presidency sources said arrangements are already underway in Daura to receive the remains, with tight security and dignitaries expected in attendance.
The late president served Nigeria as Head of State from 1983 to 1985 and later as a democratically elected President from 2015 to 2023.
His passing has triggered a wave of tributes from across the country and the international community.
