The International Vocational and Technical and Entrepreneurship College (IVTEC) in kwara State has completed the training of almost 2,000 persons on various skills and vocations in the last four years.
Disclosing this development in an exclusive interview with Western Post, the Rector of the College, Dr. Yaru Salihu, revealed that his administration increased the college’s programmes from sixteen to twenty-five, including ICT, auto mechanics, shoe making, agricultural science, mechatronics, electrical installation, machine building, plumbing, hospitality, and tourism, amongst others.
“I assumed office here at the International Vocational and Technical Entrepreneurship College (IVTEC) on 23 May, 2022. Upon assumption, I met everything almost grounded, no electricity, no water supply, most of the systems in the ICT were not working, but I decided to make a difference as a stakeholder from the state.”
“So far, we have trained almost 2,000 students since I assumed office in the last four years,” he said.
The rector further noted that the institution is proud of its products as they are all making waves in both the private and public sectors of the country.
He added that the duration for the available training is six months, with three months of intensive theoretical training and another three months of industrial training under supervision.
He further commended the state government for providing adequate support in achieving this great feat while reiterating his commitment to developing the college in line with world-class standards.
