UK announces jobs boost as Tinubu’s state visit strengthens Nigeria-UK economic ties — Official

The United Kingdom government has announced a new wave of job creation driven by Nigerian companies expanding their operations in Britain, coinciding with President Bola Tinubu’s state visit aimed at strengthening economic and trade relations between both countries.

UK officials said the expansion by Nigerian banks, fintech companies and creative industry firms is expected to generate hundreds of jobs, further reinforcing Britain’s reputation as a major global business destination.

The development comes as bilateral trade between Nigeria and the UK continues to grow, currently estimated at about £8.1 billion annually, Pluboard online reports.

UK Secretary of State for Business and Trade, Peter Kyle, said the latest investments demonstrate the shared commitment of both countries to economic growth through innovation and enterprise.

“The UK and Nigeria share a belief in the power of enterprise, innovation and education to transform lives, and today’s commitments clearly demonstrate that,” he said.

UK Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy also described the partnership as one that is creating new opportunities for businesses and innovators in both countries.

According to him, the collaboration is helping to reduce trade barriers, create employment opportunities and open new channels for economic growth.
