Ladies Golf Association makes Oluremi Tinubu Grand Patron of 2026 All Africa golf championship
The Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria has made First Lady Oluremi Tinubu the Grand Patron of the 2026 All Africa Challenge Trophy (AACT), a premier women’s amateur golf championship scheduled to hold in Abuja in November.
The association decorated the First Lady during a visit on Tuesday to seek national support for the continental tournament, which will bring together women golfers from about 30 countries.
The championship is scheduled for November 2 to 7 at the IBB International Golf and Country Club, Abuja.
Tinubu commended the association for securing the hosting rights and its proposed Girls in Golf Legacy Project, which seeks to mentor and nurture 300 girls in the sport.
She said the initiative could produce future world champions, stressing that success in golf requires discipline, commitment and dedication.
“These girls could someday become world champions,” the First Lady said, adding that the process of becoming a renowned golfer requires “discipline, commitment and dedication”.
Tinubu also said hosting the tournament would provide opportunities to promote tourism and enhance economic activities in Nigeria.
Earlier, the President of the Court of Appeal and Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the IBB International Golf and Country Club, Justice Monica Mensem, commended the First Lady for her efforts in supporting girls and women in the country.
