Lagos APC rips Atiku apart, calls ex-VP ‘godfather of national ruin’

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has issued a strongly worded response to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, dismissing his recent remarks accusing both the PDP and APC of causing insecurity and hunger in Nigeria.

In a statement signed on Sunday by the party’s spokesman, Mogaji (Hon.) Seye Oladejo, the APC described Atiku’s comments as “delusional,” insisting that he played a central role in laying the foundation for the nation’s current economic and security difficulties.

According to the party, Atiku cannot absolve himself of responsibility for what it termed the “economic wreckage” resulting from the privatisation exercise he oversaw while in office, alleging that national assets were sold under questionable circumstances, leading to job losses and industrial decline.

The statement further argued that many of Nigeria’s present challenges originated during the PDP era, accusing Atiku of being “the engine room” of policies and practices that fostered corruption, mismanaged oil revenues, and enabled the rise of Boko Haram.

The APC also criticised Atiku for what it called “political amnesia,” pointing to his long history of presidential bids and political realignments. It claimed he had little to show for his public career and accused him of failing to deliver meaningful development in his home state of Adamawa.

The party added that Atiku’s persistent ambition posed a greater threat to national stability than any policy of the current administration, describing him as a “wandering political relic” moving frequently between parties.

Defending the performance of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Lagos APC maintained that current reforms aimed at rebuilding security structures and stabilising the economy were efforts to repair damage allegedly caused by Atiku and the PDP during their years in power.

The statement concluded by urging Atiku to retire from politics, asserting that he owes Nigerians an apology for what it called the “monumental economic and political crimes” committed under his watch.
