LASG refines economic strategy for 2025 at high level retreat

The Lagos State Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget (MEPB) has convened a strategic retreat, bringing together key leaders to refine its economic strategy for 2025. The initiative aims to align priorities, enhance performance, and strengthen collaboration within the Ministry, ensuring effective economic governance in the face of evolving challenges.
Under the theme: “Aligning Priorities, Driving Performance: Building a Unified Team for Strategic Excellence,” the retreat serves as a critical platform for reflection, knowledge exchange, and strategic recalibration. The goal is to position the MEPB at the forefront of economic planning and budget management for Lagos State.
In his opening address, the Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Ope George said “This retreat provides a valuable opportunity to assess our current strategies, refocus our priorities, and enhance teamwork to achieve impactful governance. As the state’s economic think-tank, we must continuously innovate, adapt to changing economic realities, and ensure our policies deliver tangible benefits to the citizens of Lagos.”

Recognizing the ongoing economic challenges facing Lagos State, the Commissioner urged participants to actively contribute to discussions and propose innovative solutions aimed at improving budget credibility, strengthening economic planning processes, and reinforcing Lagos’s position as a prime investment destination.
Mrs. Olayinka Ojo, the Permanent Secretary, provided a comprehensive overview of the Ministry’s current state, highlighting key achievements resulting from enhanced budget implementation processes. She also emphasised the need for improved data governance across all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
The retreat was able to produce actionable outcomes that further solidified the Ministry’s role as the central hub for economic planning in Lagos State. The outcomes are bound to improve resource allocation, more effective policy execution, and sustainable economic growth for the benefit of all residents.
