Lawmaker representing Ijesa South marks two years with projects, empowerment

The lawmaker representing Ijesa South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Sanya Omirin, has marked his second year in office by highlighting a range of completed projects and empowerment programmes across his constituency.
Speaking with journalists in Osogbo, Omirin stated that his efforts have spanned key sectors including education, health, infrastructure, and social welfare. As part of his educational interventions, he facilitated the construction of a block of six classrooms in Ifewara and distributed 140 plastic desks and chairs to public schools in Ilesa.
In the area of rural electrification, the lawmaker said six communities were provided with electricity through the installation of a 500KVA transformer near the University of Ilesa, electrification of Ikoromoja Village, and the provision of 33 solar street lights in Ilesa. An additional 119 solar street lights were installed across Ilesa East, Ilesa West, and Atakunmosa East Local Government Areas. He also noted the rehabilitation of a one-kilometre road within the constituency.
On empowerment, Omirin disclosed that he distributed 1,800 bags of rice and cash support to vulnerable constituents. In addition, 140 youths and women benefited from agricultural and vocational empowerment, receiving palm seedlings, industrial sewing machines, and ₦50,000 in start-up capital.
He explained that the programmes were designed to address unemployment and support economic independence among young people and women in the constituency.
Highlighting his legislative contributions, Omirin noted that he has sponsored several bills and motions, including a bill for the establishment of a Federal Medical Centre in Ilesa and a motion advocating for the inclusion of security studies in Nigeria’s educational curriculum.
“As a representative of the people, my commitment remains to deliver purposeful and impactful service that reflects the needs and aspirations of my constituents,” he said.
Omirin reaffirmed his dedication to sustaining and expanding development initiatives that will continue to improve the quality of life in Ijesa South.
