Lookman ends goal drought as Atalanta thrash Monza 4-0

Reigning African Footballer of the Year, Ademola Lookman, ended his six-match goal drought in Serie A with a decisive strike on Sunday, helping Atalanta secure a commanding 4-0 win over Monza at the Gewiss Stadium.
Lookman’s goal—his first since scoring against Juventus on March 9—came in the second half, courtesy of a composed finish following a Mateo Retegui assist.
The 27-year-old Nigerian international calmly beat the Monza goalkeeper to net Atalanta’s third of the afternoon, capping off an impressive individual performance.
The defeat confirmed Monza’s relegation to Serie B, meaning they will not feature in Serie A next season.
The Super Eagles winger had previously failed to find the net in league outings against Inter Milan, Fiorentina, Lazio, Bologna, AC Milan, and Lecce.
Sunday’s goal marked his 19th of the season across all competitions—a testament to his attacking influence under Gian Piero Gasperini.
Atalanta continue their push for a Champions League spot as the season nears its conclusion, with Lookman’s return to form arriving at a crucial moment in their campaign.
