Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has forwarded a list of nominees for the reconstitution of the Oyo State Judicial Service Commission and the Civil Service Commission to the State House of Assembly for screening and approval.
The nominations were presented in two separate letters read during the House plenary on Monday by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin.
According to the governor, the nominations are in line with Section 197 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), which empowers governors to constitute such commissions with legislative consent.
For the Judicial Service Commission, the Chief Judge of Oyo State, Hon. Justice Iyabo Yerima, is to serve as the statutory Chairperson. Other nominees include Barr. Musibau Adetunbi, Barr. Wahab Adedigba, Chief Joshua Abioye, and Mrs. Moyosore Ajani.
In a separate submission, the governor requested approval for the reconstitution of the Civil Service Commission. The nominees are: Alhaji Aderibigbe Kamoru Abiodun as Chairman; Alhaji Kolajo Isiaq Adewale and Mr. Olutoyin Adedeji Akanmu as Full-Time Commissioners; while Pastor Taiwo Oluwagbemiro A. and Mr. Oladimeji Oladapo are nominated as Part-Time Commissioners.
Governor Makinde expressed confidence in the competence and integrity of the nominees and urged the Assembly to treat the request with urgency.
“The reconstitution of these important commissions is vital for ensuring the smooth and effective administration of justice and public service delivery in our dear state,” the governor stated.
Responding, Speaker Ogundoyin assured that the screening of the nominees would begin promptly and would follow due legislative process.
