A 39-year-old man, Temitope Fatoyinbo, has been arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court for allegedly defrauding a man of N10.5 million in a land transaction.
The prosecution alleged that Fatoyinbo collected the money from the complainant, Wajud Abanikanda, on September 3, 2025, after claiming that he had six plots of land available for sale.
According to the prosecutor, ASP Akinwale Oriyomi, the defendant received the payment but allegedly failed to deliver the six plots to Abanikanda as agreed.
Oriyomi told the court that the alleged offence contravened Section 328 and was punishable under Section 329(3) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
The allegations formed the basis of the charge against Fatoyinbo, who appeared before the court to answer to the accusation.
Defence counsel, Opeyemi Ogunremi, urged the court to grant his client bail, assuring that he would remain available throughout the proceedings.
In his ruling, Chief Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun granted Fatoyinbo bail in the sum of N1.5 million, with one surety required to provide the same amount.
The court adjourned the case until October 23, 2026, for further hearing.
