A job seeker named Blessing Oluwajuwonlo Oripenaye has stationed himself at the entrance of the Ondo State Governor’s Office in Akure, demanding an audience with Governor Aiyedatiwa after what he described as “14 days of ignored appeals for employment.”
Oripenaye disclosed to newsmen that he had reached out earlier through letters and social media posts, tagging top government officials in the state, but got no response, hence his decision to appear physically at the Governor’s office with a banner.
According to him, his action was not intended as a protest but a personal appeal for assistance, noting that he only seeks an opportunity to work and contribute to the state.
“I have written letters for 14 days through social media, tagging the Governor, the Deputy Governor, the Chief Press Secretary and other key officials, respectfully requesting a job opportunity, but I got no response.”
“This is not a protest against the Governor or an attack on his person. I am only asking for a chance. I believe if I seek, I will find,” he stated.
The job seeker further explained that he chose to remain at the Governor’s office to attract attention from the Governor or his aides, adding that he would continue to appear at the location daily while awaiting a response from the authorities.
“If nobody informs the Governor about me, I will make myself known. With just one phone call, the Governor can change my future,” he said.
“I will be here every day until 5pm. I need a job and I want to contribute to the development of my state and my country,” Oripenaye added.
