Minister of Information applauds NTA over new world class studio

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has praised the completion of a new world-class television studio at the headquarters of the Nigerian Television Authority, describing it as one of the best broadcast facilities in Africa.
Speaking after inspecting the facility in Abuja on Monday, Idris said the project, alongside the ongoing upgrade of the National Press Centre, reflects President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to modernising Nigeria’s public broadcasting and information infrastructure.
“What we have seen today is the fulfilment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s promise to modernise Nigeria’s public broadcasting facilities. This is one of the best studios in Nigeria and among the finest on the African continent,” the minister said.
He said the new studio forms part of a wider investment programme across federal government-owned media organisations, including the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Voice of Nigeria and News Agency of Nigeria.
The minister also commended the management and staff of the NTA for supporting the transformation, noting that the reforms go beyond physical infrastructure to include improvements in content quality, professionalism, innovation and staff development.
According to him, the procurement of modern broadcast equipment for NTA stations across the country, alongside similar investments in other government-owned media organisations, will strengthen public service broadcasting nationwide.
Idris further described the recently relaunched Digital Switch Over (DSO) programme as a major step in the government’s efforts to modernise the broadcasting industry.
“The Digital Switch Over and the investments in modern broadcast infrastructure are opening a new chapter for Nigeria’s information sector. By the time this reform programme is completed, Nigerians will witness a truly transformed public broadcasting system,” he said.
