NDDC begins Youth Internship Scheme, enrolling 10,000 beneficiaries

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has launched the Youth Internship Scheme, providing 10,000 young beneficiaries from the region with one-year practical skills training at various organizations. This initiative aims to empower youth and foster sustainable development in the Niger Delta.
The placement process, which is currently underway, follows the successful completion of the selection phase, where over 3.2 million young people registered for the program.
In addition to the placement, the NDDC has commenced the payment of monthly stipends to the selected candidates.
The rigorous selection process was carried out with transparency, fairness, and diligence to ensure that the most deserving youth benefit from the scheme. This impressive response reflects the ambition and potential of the youth in the Niger Delta.
A key feature of the initiative is the establishment of a comprehensive digital database that tracks vital information such as qualifications, skills, interests, and employment status of young people in the region. This database will enable the NDDC to tailor future programs to meet the specific needs of the youth, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of its interventions.
In its commitment to corporate governance, the NDDC has partnered with KPMG to strengthen its ethical framework. KPMG’s Governance Advisory Report will guide the NDDC in its efforts to transition from transactional operations to transformative leadership.
The NDDC appreciates the patience and support of stakeholders and applicants during the selection process and remains dedicated to engaging with youth and community leaders to shape a better future for the Niger Delta.
