Nigeria will host the 2025 West Africa Economic Summit (WAES) in Abuja from June 20 to 21.

President Bola Tinubu made the announcement on Friday via a post on his official X (formerly Twitter) account.

The summit, themed “Unlocking Trade and Investment Opportunities in the Region,” aims to foster deeper economic integration and development across West Africa.

“Two years ago, I pledged to champion a foreign policy prioritising our people, our prosperity, and our place in the world,” President Tinubu said.

“Today, I am proud to announce the West Africa Economic Summit 2025… It is a bold step toward a prosperous, integrated West Africa powered by trade, innovation, and our most valuable asset: our people.”

WAES 2025 is expected to bring together Heads of State, CEOs, global investors, entrepreneurs, youth innovators, and development partners. Key highlights will include a Presidential Roundtable, a Deal Room for investment opportunities, and sessions focused on youth empowerment and regional project partnerships.

The President extended an open invitation to the global community, stating, “I invite the world to join us in Abuja as we build a stronger, more unified, and globally competitive West Africa.”
