Nigeria-US Bi-National Commission high-level meeting holds in Abuja

Nigeria is hosting this year’s edition of the Nigeria-United States Bi-National Commission (BNC) meeting.

A press statement by the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mrs Francisca Omayuli said that the meeting ‘held alternately in the capitals of the two countries,’ will this year be held in Abuja on the 29th and 30th April.

This year’s edition, the 6th since the BNC was established in 2010 will be co-chaired by Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar and the United States Deputy Secretary of State, Mr Kurt Campbell.

“The Nigeria-US BNC serves as a platform for high-level discussions on issues of mutual interests, with a view to enhancing cooperation on shared priorities.

“It is therefore expected that both sides would leverage the strategic engagement to address mutual challenges and pursue common goals,” the statement read.

Participants at the meeting will include top government officials from Nigeria and the United States, diplomats, policymakers, foreign affairs experts, representatives from the private sector and civil society organizations.
