NITDA strengthens role as Nigeria’s tech ecosystem orchestrator

The National Information Technology Development Agency has reaffirmed its commitment to building a coordinated and inclusive digital ecosystem in Nigeria, further strengthening its role as an orchestrator of the country’s technology ecosystem.

This was disclosed during a working visit focused on Nigeria’s startup ecosystem framework, where the Director General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa, was represented by the agency’s Director of Stakeholders Management and Partnerships, Aristotle Onumo.

Speaking during the visit, the NITDA boss said the agency was established to drive coordinated and sustainable information technology development across Nigeria through its regulatory and developmental mandates.

According to him, NITDA serves as an ecosystem orchestrator that promotes collaboration, innovation and growth within the nation’s digital economy, while creating opportunities for businesses and technology-driven enterprises.

He explained that the reforms being implemented by the agency are aligned with the Federal Government’s Eight-Point Agenda and are reflected in NITDA’s Strategic Roadmap and Action Plan (SRAP 2.0).

The DG stated that the roadmap is built around eight strategic pillars aimed at accelerating the growth of Nigeria’s digital economy and positioning the country as a technologically driven nation that promotes inclusive economic development through innovation.

He identified digital literacy as one of the agency’s top priorities, noting that NITDA is targeting 70 per cent digital literacy by 2027 under the National Digital Literacy Framework.

Meanwhile, the visiting delegation from National Institute of Support for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, led by its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Bráulio Augusto, commended Nigeria’s implementation of the Nigeria Startup Act and described the country as a model for shaping Angola’s startup legislation.
