The National Orientation Agency (NOA), has assured Nigerians of continued vehicular access and safety on the Mokwa Bridge in Niger State, amid concerns over flooding and road conditions in the area.

Following a visit to the flood-affected Mokwa area, Director General of the NOA, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, said the Federal Government is committed to ensuring that transportation remains smooth and uninterrupted. He emphasized that efforts are ongoing to address any issue that could affect the bridge or surrounding infrastructure.

According to the DG, proactive measures are being implemented to maintain traffic flow and safeguard commuters along the vital transport corridor that connects several northern states.

“The government is fully aware of public concerns and is taking the necessary steps to keep traffic moving safely. We urge Nigerians to remain calm and continue with their normal activities,” Issa-Onilu said.

The agency also warned against panic buying and hoarding of petroleum products, cautioning that such behavior could lead to artificial fuel shortages, disrupt supply chains, and pose risks to lives and property.

In a statement, the NOA reiterated that key routes to cities like Abuja, Kaduna, and Sokoto remain open and unaffected, stressing that the safety of citizens remains a top government priority.

The agency called on motorists, traders, and other stakeholders to support government efforts and report any suspicious activity or infrastructure issues to relevant authorities for quick resolution.

“We are working to ensure the uninterrupted movement of people and goods across the country,” the NOA said, urging public cooperation to maintain order and prevent unnecessary disruption.
