Nollywood actor Joseph Momodu joins US Army to honour late father’s legacy

Nollywood actor Joseph Momodu, has joined the United States Army in honour of his late father, saying the decision was inspired by his father’s legacy two decades after his passing.
The actor announced the development on his Instagram page on Friday, sharing photos from his graduation ceremony after completing 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training.
In a lengthy post accompanying the photos, Joseph dedicated the achievement to his late father, who served in the Nigeria Police Force. He said he enlisted in the US Army on April 12, 2026, as a way of continuing his father’s legacy.

Reflecting on his journey, he wrote: “This particular one was forged through tears, fear of failure, resilience, endless days, short nights, fatigue, rain and scorching sun.” He added that despite moments of doubt, he remained determined and overcame every challenge.
Joseph also disclosed that he was incommunicado throughout the 10-week training, describing the experience as a period during which he was broken and rebuilt through rigorous military drills.
Announcing his new rank, he revealed that he is now a Specialist (SPC) in the United States Army, serving with the 10th Infantry Regiment at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and expressed gratitude for the new chapter in his life.
