The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Osun State Command, has arrested three persons for allegedly vandalizing water pipes belonging to the Osun State Water Corporation.

The State Commandant, Igbalawole Sotiyo, in a statement signed by the command’s spokesperson, ASC Kehinde Adeleke, said that Michael Odeniran (43), Ganiyu Mutiu Olalekan (32), and Muritala Ridwan (32) were arrested on April 10, 2025, at about 11:00 a.m. at the Oloki Reservoir Site via Akoda, along the Gbongan-Osogbo road in Osun State.

Sotiyo further stated that a discreet investigation revealed the suspects, who are laterite miners, damaged a 450mm pipe while mining laterite.

They were subsequently arraigned before a Magistrate Court sitting in Ede on April 14, 2025, where they pleaded not guilty. They were then remanded at the Ife Correctional Centre.

The NSCDC boss, therefore, warned those vandalizing government infrastructure to desist from such acts or face the consequences, stating that “the NSCDC is committed to protecting Critical National Assets and Infrastructure, and those found culpable will be brought to justice.”
