Obasa calls for stronger African parliamentary cooperation at 55th CPA
The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, has called for stronger parliamentary cooperation, dialogue and collaboration among African legislators to address challenges confronting the continent.
Obasa made the call in a statement on his official Facebook page on Friday while commenting on the ongoing 55th Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Africa Region Conference and Annual General Meeting in Lilongwe, Malawi.
The conference, holding at the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC), has brought together parliamentary leaders and legislators from across Africa to discuss governance, legislative effectiveness and sustainable development.
Obasa said democracy thrives on dialogue, cooperation and shared solutions to societal challenges.
He described the CPA Africa Region conference as a key platform for exchanging ideas and legislative practices.
The Speaker expressed optimism that the discussions would yield outcomes that strengthen governance and improve legislative work across the continent.
He also called for continued engagement among participants to advance parliamentary democracy, good governance and sustainable development in Africa.
The conference is expected to provide opportunities for lawmakers to share experiences and explore ways to improve legislative institutions and democratic governance across the region.
